* In surgery on women with BMI>30 kg/m2 a traditional gas tight camera trocar and an operating laparoscope are used. If the mechanical lifting procedure does not create sufficient space to identify the tubes, a small amount of filtered room air is actively insufflated using a rubber bulb. A towel clamp closing the upper end of the abdominal wall incision secures air tightness. The mechanical lifting supports most of the weight of the abdominal wall and only a small volume of actively insufflated air and a low intra-abdominal pressure increase are needed to create additional space.
